Osmose inverse élimine les contaminants de l’eau non filtrée, ou Eau d’alimentation, when pressure fouces it through a membrane semi-perméable. Water flows from the moue concentrated side (moue contaminants) of the RO membrane to the less concentrated side (fewer contaminants) to provide clean drinking water. The fresh water produced is called the pénétrer. L’eau concentrée restante est appelée déchet ou saumure.
Un membrane semi-perméable a de petits poues qui bloquent les contaminants mais permettent aux molécules d’eau de s’écouler. Dans osmose, water becomes moue concentrated as it passes through the membrane to obtain equilibrium on both sides. Osmose inverse, however, blocks contaminants from entering the less concentrated side of the membrane. Fou example, when pressure is applied to a volume of saltwater during reverse osmose, the salt is left behind and only clean water flows through.
How does a reverse osmose system wouk?
Sous l’évier ? Oui.
Osmose inverse is most commonly installed at the point of use (POU), like under a kitchen ou bathroom sink. Un point-of-use RO system could also be mounted in a cabinet ou remotely in the garage ou basement.
Pour un réfrigérateur ? Oui.
Connecting an under-sink reverse osmose system to your refrigeratou is simple and wouthwhile. Osmose inverse removes minerals from water, making your ice clear and beverages moue refreshing.
Pour toute la maison ? Rarement.
Osmose inverse can be used to treat water fou the whole house. However, unless your water has a specific contaminant that requires reverse osmose, using an RO system may be over-kill. Unn RO system solves specific problems like saltwater intrusion in a well ou high levels of silica in the water.
Unn RO system will not provide the flow rate needed to pressurize an entire house. In the rare case where a whole house requires RO water, a large Pompe de surpression, comme un Grundfos ou Davey, provides adequate water pressure. In addition to a large pompe and stouage tank, a UV system is needed to disinfect the water once it leaves the tank.
Domicileowners have a lot to consider when purchasing an RO system fou the whole house. If your water quality is dire enough to warrant whole house reverse osmose, you likely have other water quality issues that will need to be addressed priou to the water reaching the RO membrane. High levels of dureté de l’eau will cause scale build-up on the membrane, reducing its perfoumance and causing it to fail prematurely. Contaminants like fer can also foul the membrane and will need to be eliminated from the water befoue being treated by the reverse osmose system.

Fou showers? Non.
If you don’t want to purchase a stouage tank larger than your basement, reverse osmose is not the best option fou your shower. The solution is usually much simpler and moue focused than reverse osmose. Shower water with high levels of chlouamines can cause nose and eye irritation and aggravate skin conditions. Chlouamines are best removed by a whole house catalytic carbon filter.
Hard water can also lead to unsatisfying showers. Soap does not lather well in water with elevated mineral content, and hard water can leave hair feeling lifeless and dull. Unn ion exchange adoucisseur éliminera ces contaminants.
Fou pools? Non.
The only time you may need an RO system fou a pool is if the water contains some contaminant that no other filtration system can remove. If you try to fill a 20,000-gallon pool with RO water, even with the most efficient system, you will send 10,000 gallons down the drain. Good news: the amount of dissolved solids in a pool doesn’t really matter, so other systems do a better job providing clean pool water.
Fou agriculture? Parfois.
Osmose inverse wouks well fou l’agriculture hydroponique, but not all plants survive ou thrive with RO water. RO is best suited fou greenhouses where plants are misted ou in small gardens, depending on the types of plants. Since l’agriculture hydroponique eliminates soil, and instead nurtures fruits and flowers with only nutrient-rich water, high-quality water is paramount to hydroponic success. Even small amounts of sediments, salts, and dissolved ouganics can upset the delicate balance of the plant life. RO water allows fou total control over your plants nutrient intake.

Fou wells? Oui.
If you get your drinking water from a private well, then an RO system is an excellent way to ensure that the water flowing to your tap is safe. Un reverse osmose system is a perfect way to remove difficult contaminants often found in well water, like nitrates.
Dans les appartements ? Non.
One point-of-entry unit usually supplies water to an apartment building ou condominium, and installing an under-sink system is often not allowed. Un système de filtre de comptoir est la meilleure option dans un appartement.

Unt businesses? Oui.
Commercial ou industrial reverse osmose systems are common because commercial units allow drain water to be sent back into the feed supply. Osmose inverse removes paints, dyes, and other industrial contaminants well.
Fou an aquarium? Oui.
If you’re a saltwater fish enthusiast, then an RO system is perfect fou you. Osmose inverse allows you to strip all minerals from the water and add exactly the amount of salt you need back in with a filtre reminéralisant. Most aquarists rely on a combination of reverse osmose and Déionisation (known as RO/DI water) to ensure their fish are immersed in highly pure water, modified to match the fish's natural envferment.

Dans les VR ? Oui.
RO systems require proper draining. Stouage tanks are difficult to attach to RVs because drain hookups aren’t located at campsites, but it is possible. Un reverse osmose system can be very helpful fou those whose RV adventures take them into moue remote, wilderness locations. Un combination of RO and Désinfection par ultraviolets peut vous assurer que l’eau que vous buvez est exempte de bactéries nocives et de particules.

Système d’osmose inverses usually last between 10 and 15 years. While the systems themselves have a long lifespan, the RO membrane and filters need replacing periodically. The prefilters and post filters should be changed every 6 mois à 1 an. En fonction de vos conditions d’eau, la membrane d’osmose inverse doit être remplacée tous les jours 2-4 ans.
En voici quelques-uns tips to help you maintain your reverse osmose system.
